Coast and Mountain Walkers Meetings and Social Program

Club meetings are held at Concord High School on the second Wednesday of the month at 8pm in the Theatrette, Stanley Street, Concord, opposite the playing fields, UBD - 233 M 8 (Google Map).


** Note: As from July 10 2019 we are moving our monthly meetings to Burwood RSL. Have dinner at 6:30pm with Club Members and then attend meeting at 7:30pm upstairs in a Conference Room. Burwood RSL is close to Burwood Railway Station and has a large car park. See Google Map 


CMW acknowledges the Wangal people of the Dharug nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which these activities are held.


Restaurant nights are nominally held on the fourth Wednesday of the month, and begin at 7.30pm unless otherwise advised.





March 13: Quarterly Meeting

Canyon Hiking in Utah and a Via Ferrata Trek in the Dolomites.  Elaine Prior will talk about her multi-day hikes in Coyote Gulch and Paria Canyon/Buchskin Gulch in southern Utah and also about a 5-day hut-to-hut via ferra trek on the Bocchetti Trail in the Brenta Dolomites.

Graham McLean will talk about the unusual critters ecountered during two weeks of snorkelling from a Bugis schooner in the eastern archipelago of Indonesia.

April 24: Restaurant Night

Mount Everest Indian & Nepalese Restaurant at Shop 4/45 Gladesville Rd, Hunters Hill.  Fully licenced and BYO bottled wine − corkage $3 pp.  Meet from 6.45pm for a 7.00pm start. Refer  $35pp banquet or a la carte. Small underground carpark inHunters Hill Village Shopping Centre. Bus 506 near Town Hall Station.

Approach from the South Col − Sherpas, crampons, ice-picks and oxygen tanks not required, and restaurant has panoramic views over Tarban Bay towards the Hillary Step and the Khumbu Icefall. (a bit of Springo humour here!)

Meg McKone climbed snow capped volcanoes, completed the Torres del Paine Circuit and visited Fitz Roy in Argentina.  See the stunning scenery, colourful wildflowers and beautiful forests.
