CMW is a Sydney based bushwalking club known for putting on lots of overnight and extended bushwalks.

 

Apart from bushwalking, activities include:

Kayaking, Packrafting, Canyoning, Liloing, Cycling and Snow touring.

 

Destinations: Greater Sydney, NSW, Australia and overseas.

A lazy trip to the Shoalhaven. Down Long Pt to a site upstream of Barbers Ck. Lovely spot to swim,  relax & do short side trips. Party limit 8 possibly stoves only depending on weather. DISTANCE: SHORT. TRIP GRADE: EASY MAPS: Caoura. TRANSPORT: $54
 

Oct 14 (Sun)  KAMAY BOTANY BAY NP
La Perouse,  Congwong Beach,  Henry Head,  Cruwee Cove,  Cape Banks.  Return the same way.  Good track through coastal heath,  historic World War II battery at Henry Head,  great views. This walk passes through Blackwoods Beach,  Burraneer,  Cronulla Beach to Cronulla Point,  Darook Park,  Deeban Walk,  Gunnamatta Foreshore Bushland Reserve through to Windy Point back to Cronulla Station. DISTANCE: MEDIUM. TRIP GRADE: MEDIUM MAPS: Cronulla Headland Loop Sketch. TRANSPORT: TRAIN

Oct 20, 21   MORTON NP (Q)
Touga Rd,  Boomerang Pass,  Ettrema Creek,  Murray Pools,  Coolumburra,  Touga Rd.  A good introductory walk to this pristine creek meandering below towering sandstone cliffs.  All off-track with a 300 m scree descent to the creek then mostly flattish rock hopping and minor scrambling to a sublime campsite.  Suitable for fit prospectives. Quick and easy exit. Possible waist deep wade if creek is up so waterproof packs.  Limit 10. DISTANCE: MEDIUM. TRIP GRADE: MEDIUM MAPS: NERRIGA. TRANSPORT: $73
 

Oct 21-27   CANOWINDRA NSW  - Cycling
Five days of delightful rural cycling around the beautiful rolling western plains on quiet sealed roads based at CANOWINDRA.   Routes will be selected from    http://www.cyclingcanowindra.com.au/. Catch the train to Woy Woy and ride anti clockwise around the beautiful Brisbane waters,  mostly on shared pathways & 'on road cycleways'. Anyone else celebrating 30 years' membership (or thereabouts) of CMW? Come along for a weekend of yarns,  photos,  tall tales,  gourmet refreshments. Car camping at Newnes campground. Possible day,  walks,  Pipeline Track to pass and back; Donkey Mountain; meandering along the Wolgan River; exploring historic ruins. Nov 8 (Thu)  EPPING - BOBBIN HEAD CIRCUIT  - Cycling
Cycle along 'on road' cycle tracks to Browns Waterhole then up Kissing Point Rd & various back roads to Bobbin Head Rd  through North Turramurra and down to Bobbin Head. Then its up past Kalkari visitors centre to Mt.Colah,  along Sherbrook Rd & Alexandria Pde to Asquith & Turramurra. An easy ride down Kissing Pt Rd to Browns Waterhole and back to Epping. NOTE: The trains between Chatswood & Epping will not be running. Please ring to confirm details etc. Helmets,  high vis jackets,  sunscreen,  water,  spare tube,  pump & repair kit required. Limit 8. Long point to McCalluns Flat walking track,  the easiest access to the Shoalhaven river,  but still a 500m descent.  Camp by a lovely swimming pool,  with an optional afternoon walk downstream.  A good season for bird watching. DISTANCE: MEDIUM. TRIP GRADE: EASY MAPS: Caoura. TRANSPORT: $54.
 

Nov 10, 11   KANANGRA BOYD NP (Q)
Kanangra Walls,  Gingra Track,  First Top,  Brumby Ridge,  camp at Orange Bluff by the Kowmung,  short walk up stream and up Great Stony Mtn,  Bullhead Range,  Gingra Track,  Kanangra Walls. Nov 15 (Thu)  SUTHERLAND - WOLLONGONG  - Cycling
A varied and very scenic ride through the Royal NP and then down the coast to Wollongong via the Sea Cliff Bridge. Experienced riders only,  mostly road riding with approx 10km of dirt firetrail (Lady Carrington Dr). Lunch at Wollongong Harbour and catch the train home. Nov 20 (Tue)  BLUE MOUNTAINS NP (q)
Erskine Creek,  Pisgah rock to Jack Evans Track.  An easily accessible gorge on the edge of Sydney,  but with a remote area feel.  A steep descent and rock hopping with swimming potential. DISTANCE: MEDIUM. TRIP GRADE: MEDIUM/HARD MAPS: Penrith. TRANSPORT: $19.
 

Nov  22, 23 BUNGONIA NP (q) - Bushcare
Two day walks. On Thursday we will help NPWS remove the invasive weed "tree of heaven" from the bottom of Bungonia Gorge,  a 400m descent down a steep,  rough track.  Car camp in the main camping area which provides hot showers,  cooking facilities and tables and chairs.  Friday will be a day walk along Nyes Creek,  a rain forested creek in Wingello State Forest, allowing a return to Sydney mid afternoon. A scenic ride around the Georges River precinct. Great views with a few short steep climbs that are well within the ability of our regular Thursday 'fluro' riders. Dec 5-10   SNOWY MOUNTAINS NP (Q)
Guthega, Upper Pounds Creek, Club Lake Creek, Upper Snowy River (2 nights), Mt Twynam, Guthega. A classic main range tour of the high peaks arriving near Mt Kosciuszko on weekend of 8,  9 December. We will join the other Save Kosci walkers for the protest again the Feral Horse legislation passed by the NSW Government. Good tents,  stoves only,  NPWS advised limit 8. DISTANCE: MEDIUM. Feb  (Fri)  THE TARKINE,  TASMANIA  - 4WD TRIP & WALKS
Expressions of interest for 2,  3 weeks in the Tarkine area of NW Tasmania,  to experience the wide range of landscapes and features (rainforest,  rivers,  coastline,  heathlands,  Aboriginal history,  rare plants and animals) this huge region has to offer.  Either take your vehicle to Tas or fly and hire.  Base camp in several different towns to access the surrounding walks,  with a range of part day,  day and at least two overnight trips,  based on information in Phill Pullinger's 2015 Guide,  Tarkine Trails.  4WDs not essential. Distances and degree of difficulty will vary. Party limit of 8.  Exploratory for the leader,  though I expect to be walking on tracks. DISTANCE: MEDIUM. TRIP GRADE: EASY/MEDIUM/EXPLORATORY MAPS: TBA.
